Real Madrid have managed to beat Bayern in the first leg of the Champions League semi final, to head into the second leg with an important 1-0 lead.
A counter attack against play resulted in Real Madrid’s winner against Bayern in the first leg of the Champions League semi final clash between the two giants which took place at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid. A fast break in the 19th minute following a run from Fabio Coentrao from the left flank reaching the edge of the penalty box and sending a pass to Benzema who was left unwatched, tapping it into the net and giving Real Madrid a very valuable lead.
Bayern tried to score the equalizer throughout the match but the Madrid defense kept denying their chances, despite Bayern dominating throughout the whole match. Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria came close to double their lead but their shots went way off target. Bayern had a chance in the final minutes to equalize through Mario Gotze but Casillas was there to deny him.
Real Madrid took advantage of the bad organization and positioning of the Bayern defense, scored their winner and kept on defended their lead until the end of the game.
